Vina Leyda Las Brisas Pinot Noir, Chilé £17.50
From cool-climate vineyards in the north of Chile, Pinot Noir Las Brisas is a steal for fans of red Burgundy who don’t want to pay through the nose! Bright and fruity nose with red cherries, hints of raspberries and a subtle wild herb note. Delicate and refined on the palate, with engaging earthy complexity overlaying plum and berry fruit. This stands out in the crowd for all the right reasons. Complex and very satisfying for lovers of classic Pinot style. A wine that will compliment almost any dish, from richer fish dishes to a classic steak.

The Next Big Thing Chardonnay, Barossa, Australia £11.70
This bright, tangy Barossa Chardonnay is an absolute delight. Naggingly moreish, with the most delicate use of oak bringing body and breadth to the stone-fruit laden palate. Ripe and juicy, with sufficient acid to make it a very food-friendly wine without being overpowering. Small, family-run winery and hand-harvested grapes. There’s a lot of quality for price here. Would suit rich, spicy fish dishes and creamy risottos perfectly. Or enjoy on its own in the sunshine!

Ayala Champagne Brut Majeur £27.50
Ayala has been our house Champagne since we opened and has gained many fans in that time. Part of the Bollinger stable, Ayala Brut Majeur is elegant, energetic, and dry, without being arid. Champagne is very food-friendly (if you’ve never tried with fish and chips, it’s a must!) and has the ability to enhance even the most subtle flavours beautifully. A world-class Champagne. Quinta das Maias Tinto, Dáo, Portugal £12.60
Wines from the Dao region represent some of the finest in Portugal. A Jaen (Mencia)-led blend, which also features some Touriga Nacional, aged without oak to retain a pure, fruit-driven style.
With typical Dáo freshness, this is an authentic reflection of this high-quality region. Subtle yet complex, showing fresh redcurrant and cranberry from the Jaen, mellowed by bramble, sloe, and forest-floor notes that bring to mind mushrooms and sweet earth. A savoury/herbal note balances the fruit wonderfully. Medium bodied and immensely drinkable, we were blown away by the quality and value of this wine. Ideal with game or try lightly chilled as an aperitif. Fans of Pinot noir will find much to like here.

Chateau Lafont Menaut Rouge, Pessac-Leognan, Bordeaux £24.00
When it comes to Bordeaux, one can go wrong quite easily. Not here. This 18th century estate has been revived over the last 30 years under the guidance of Philibert Perrin and has been recently lauded in the press for it’s now outstanding wines. Still somewhat under the radar, this offers a sweet spot of value and quality, bordering estates where wine sells for easily five times the price. This wonderful Pessac is lithe and intensely perfumed, the aromatic palate showing blackcurrant, morello cherry, plum, and blackberry, accompanied by characteristic herbaceous notes, cedar and cassis. Tobacco and leather are emerging and will continue to do so. A solid and well-integrated tannic structure provides backbone and age-ability. A very well-balanced wine from an age-worthy vintage. Drink now-2027.
